Introduction

This is the Ofqual and Health and Safety Executive (HSE) approved Emergency First Aid at Work course, in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

The EFAW certificate permits the holder to be employed as a First Aider in the workplace in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

As with the First Aid at Work course the EFAW course can be adapted with extra emphasis being placed on certain areas which are relevant to a particular environment.

The course is a one day course consisting of theory learning first aid skills and putting these skills into realistic scenarios ensuring a full understanding and to build confidence in dealing with an incident.

  • Recording and reporting
  • Basic life support [Adult]
  • Management of a seizure
  • Choking
  • Shock
  • Bleeds
  • Burns

Assessment

Students will be assessed on a continuous basis and complete a short multiple choice question paper before being certified as competent.

Cost

The cost of the one-day course for a group of up to 12 candidates is £295 when run at your venue. In addition there is a cost of £12 per candidate for certification and manual.

Certification is valid for 3 years.
