Introduction

The Health and Safety Executive have produced a document “the management of health and safety in swimming pools” referred to as HSG179. This document advises on issues regarding when a pool needs to lifeguarded. There is a criteria when pools do not need to be lifeguarded. However there is recommendation that there is some form or emergency response to an unsupervised pool. The ERP course is designed for such pools.

 The course is run over 2 days and includes basic pool safety, rescue and first aid. If the candidate is the holder of a HSE first aid qualification then they are exempt from one day. Please note that candidates do need to be able to carry out skills in the water.

 This is a Royal Life Saving Society UK [RLSS UK] course.

The course is continually assessed by the trainer.

Cost

The cost of the two-day course for a group of up to 12 candidates is £600 when run at your venue, with facilities including a swimming pool. In addition there is a cost of £20 per candidate for certification and manual.

Therefore, for example, the total cost per person on a course with 12 candidates will be £70, with six on a course will be £140
