Ian Hutchings

Ian, the founder and director of Moorland First Aid, has a wealth of first aid and lifeguarding experiences.  Ian has now retired after 30 years of front line police experience. Being the ‘first to the scene’ on many occasions with the ‘little green first aid box’, has given Ian an insight into real life first aid and has allowed him to put his knowledge into first hand experience.

During his career, Ian gained his Certificate in Education [Post compulsory] and has spent the later part of his police career delivering a variety of highly specialised training in and outside of the Police. He is a member of the Institute for Learning [IfL] and has been graded as Member of Institute for Learning [MIFL].

Ian owes much of his success to a hands on approach in teaching ensuring that everyone practices skills learnt. Part of a Chinese proverb in teaching states ‘I do so I understand’. This ensures the student not only understands the subject but also ensures competence and confidence.

Moorland First Aid is based in Bovey Tracey which is a central and suitable location for delivery and flexibility within Devon. Whilst we have access to some excellent training locations in and around Bovey Tracey, our preferred training venue is at the student’s place of work.
